The diet is extremely important. You should have a diet plan intact for the weeks to come. Plan out your meals in advance and make your grocery list to match it. This way you won't be buying stuff you don't need.
Start out by lowering your calorie intake by around 500-600 calories per day. Take a day and eat your normal amount. Count the calories and take that number and lower it. You don't have to stress out about the number of calories, just keep a rough count and don't over do it.
Next, make sure you are drinking tons of water. Water is very important. Your muscles need water to develop. You can also drink green tea and oloong tea.
Eat 5-6 small meals per day. This way your body doesn't need to work so hard to digest. Leaving more energy for burning fat and building muscle.
Workout at least 4 times per week. These exercise should be a combination of strength training and cardio workouts. You can do these exercises at home or at the gym. If you want to workout at home, go get yourself an exercise ball and some dumbbells. These two pieces of equipment will be very helpful.
Stick to these few easy tips and you will be well on your way to that awesome six pack/tight stomach you have always wanted.
